We hope cycling in 2016 was fun, and wish you a Merry Christmas and Happy New Year. Looking back at 2016, what helped make the journey fun and safe? Here’s some suggestions for gifts, gadgets & gizmos received in answer to that question:
Jeff Albro bought his wife, Jill, a new bike and outfitted it with a mirror & computer. Jeff says any cyclist would also appreciate tire changing spoons, multi-tool, CO2 inflator, and inner tubes.
Joe Capezza likes his Venstar S404 bluetooth bike mounted speaker (for use when he rides by himself).
Stuart Coulter suggests a good multi-tool that includes hex wrenches and chain tool; and a wind jacket for cooler temps.
Tee shirts acknowledge our passion for cycling and none are more unique than Jason Schweitzer’s collection. Enter HRBC15 at checkout for 15% OFF orders of $30 or more.
Several folks suggested a high quality light, for example, those made by Serfas and Niterider.
Steve Garner & Chris Porter like the Road ID app. It tracks a cyclist on a map and alerts loved ones if the rider is stationary for too long indicating a possible emergency.
The Harrison’s use the app Find My iPhone to locate each other while biking/running. (GPS Phone Tracker for Android.) Additionally, Tim discovered wider tires (25c – 28c) and lower tire pressures (70 – 80 psi) significantly enhance riding comfort.
Still need more ideas, how about some sporty wool socks or a next generation mips type helmet by Giro or other reputable manufacturer.
Perhaps these gifts, gizmos or gadgets will enhance your riding experience too.
